In the 8th century, Berbers build on the serra a castrum that will dominate Estremadura for three hundred years.
Built by the Moors after the conquest of the peninsula (711), the Castelo dos Mouros became the keystone of the Muslim defensive system north of the Tagus. In 1147, Afonso I Henriques took it after Lisbon, and installed there a small Christian and Mozarabic community. Eight carved stones, scattered among the eleven towers, hide the name of the last qaid who surrendered the castle and the place where he buried the treasures of the Muslim town.

The Moors settled in Sintra (Shantara al-Gharb) in the 8th century and built on a 450-metre ridge a castrum with a double enclosure, eleven towers, four gates and a monumental cistern. The Mozarabic town — Christians under Muslim rule — lived in a protected quarter inside the walls until the 12th century.
In 1147, Afonso I Henriques, first king of Portugal, took Sintra just four days after Lisbon. The castle became royal property, housed a Romanesque chapel dedicated to São Pedro, then declined after the 1755 earthquake. In the 19th century, Ferdinand II restored it as a picturesque ruin, in line with romantic taste.

The gameplay: AR, camera, hidden clues
At each stop, open your phone camera: an augmented reality character appears on the façade and speaks your language. Hunt the clue — it materializes as golden letters on the real wall or floats in front of you. When you find it, the phone vibrates, an AR chest opens and reveals your answer fragment. 8 stops, 8 clues to find with the camera, 1 final code.
