A custom outdoor game
for your city or heritage site

We design your treasure hunt, scavenger hunt or audio guide at no cost. Your visitors play directly in their browser, in 32 languages, with nothing to download. You earn 30% on every sale, for life. No commitment.

Our approach to heritage games

Designing a treasure hunt or a heritage scavenger hunt for a city, a tourism office or a monument is more than writing puzzles: it is finding the right narrative angle, choosing a coherent walking route, and giving visitors a reason to come back, to share, and to talk about your site to others.

At OddballTrip, we write games anchored in the real history of the places — the local legend, the forgotten episode, the historical figure few people know about. Each game follows a narrative arc built around eight steps, with a thread that ties everything together at the end. This is what distinguishes a genuine immersive tourism experience from a linear audio guide.

Our games run as self-guided tours — visitors are autonomous, at their own pace, with family or as a couple. The scavenger hunt is played smartphone in hand, with nothing to install: they open the link received after payment, and the game starts.

The economic model is simple: we cover production and hosting, you distribute the game to your visitors, and you earn 30% on every sale. It is designed as a genuine partnership — not as a service contract, nor as an affiliate scheme.

Built for tourism stakeholders

A turnkey partnership for organizations that host visitors and want to enrich their offering without complexity.

🏛️

Tourism offices

Offer a distinctive activity that keeps visitors engaged for two hours, generates additional revenue for your structure, and brings attention to lesser-visited sites in your area.

🏰

Monuments, castles & museums

Give your visitors one more reason to come back, with family or friends. A standalone interactive experience that complements the classic visit, without internal production complexity.

🌍

Cities & local authorities

A turnkey heritage activity to bring attention to your historic centre or a flagship site. No budget to vote, no public tender to issue.

How the partnership works

From the first discussion to the first payout, the process is designed to use only a few hours of your time.

1

You tell us about your site

A 30-minute call. You share the story of your place, what makes it unique, the anecdotes a passionate guide would tell visitors.

2

We write and produce the game

Our team of writers crafts the 8 narrative puzzles, designs the walking route, and produces the full content in 32 languages. Allow 4 to 6 weeks from briefing to delivery.

3

You review before publication

You receive the game for proofreading. You request adjustments on tone, historical references, pacing. Nothing goes live without your green light.

4

You distribute, you earn 30% on every sale

You add the game to your website, you display it at the welcome desk and on signage. Every sale is automatically credited to your structure. Monthly payout.

What you could earn each year

Based on a €12 average sale price, your 30% share, and conservative conversion rates.

Site profileAnnual visitorsConversionYour annual revenue
Small heritage site10,0003%€1,080
Mid-size monument or TIC50,0003%€5,400

UNESCO-class site500,0004%€72,000
Major flagship destination1,200,0005%€216,000

Calculation: visitors × conversion × €12 × 30%. Conservative assumptions — sites that actively promote the game on-site typically reach 5 to 8% conversion.

How we compare to classic providers

Most digital tourism agencies bill €8,000 to €25,000 for a comparable production, with no revenue share and a 2 to 3 year lock-in.

Reference

Les Baux-de-Provence

The Château des Baux-de-Provence welcomes around 350,000 visitors per year in one of the most photographed landscapes in Provence. We designed Le Secret Perdu de Balthazar there — a 2-hour outdoor treasure hunt inspired by the medieval legend of the lords of Baux and their claimed descent from Balthazar, one of the three Wise Men.

Timeline: 5 weeks from brief to publication. Site investment: €0. Languages delivered: 32. The game is now distributed via Google Things to Do and our website, with every sale paying 30% to the partner.

Frequently asked questions

Everything an institutional partner typically asks us before signing.

Is there really no cost to my organization?+
Yes. We invest 4 to 6 weeks of production betting that the game will generate enough sales to cover our work. You bear no production cost, no hosting cost, no maintenance cost. The only commitment expected is a sincere distribution effort (mention on your website, on-site display).
How do we make sure to be properly compensated?+
Attribution is automatic and structural: each game is dedicated to one institutional partner, and every sale of that game is credited to you. You receive a monthly statement with the full sales breakdown. No promo code, no specific link to track, nothing for you to handle manually.
Do visitors need to download an app?+
No. The game opens directly in the smartphone browser after purchase. No app to install, no updates to manage. This is what makes us accessible to international visitors who do not want to install an app for a two-hour activity.
In how many languages is the game available?+
32 languages, including native (English, French, Spanish) and major tourism languages (German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Japanese, Mandarin, Korean, etc.). Your international visitors experience the game in their own language, at no extra cost to you.
Who owns the content rights?+
OddballTrip owns the digital production rights. You retain all rights to your site, your historical archives, and any photographs you provide. If you decide to terminate the partnership, the game is removed from our catalogue within 30 days.
What happens if the game does not generate sales?+
Our six-month threshold is €500 of cumulative commission to you. Below that, we talk: extend, redesign, or amicably retire. No penalty in any case. In practice, from 30,000 annual visitors, the model works.
Can we request a removal at any time?+
Yes. The partnership has no lock-in. You can request full removal with 30 days notice. You can also request content edits at any time, free of charge.
Do you work outside our country?+
Yes. We operate in 70 countries, with native content in English, French and Spanish. We evaluate any serious request, in particular from tourism offices and heritage sites in Europe and North America.
How are visitors supported during the game?+
We handle the entire player relationship: pre-purchase questions, in-game technical issues, refund requests. Our support is multilingual. You never have to intervene on a complaint.
What annual revenue can we expect?+
For a site at 50,000 annual visitors and 3% conversion, that is roughly €5,400/year paid to your structure. For a UNESCO site at 500,000 visitors and 4% conversion: roughly €72,000/year. These figures are conservative.
