In 409 BC, as Carthaginian armies closed in on Selinunte, the city's master architects etched a final, desperate 'song'—a sequence of symbols and alignments across the temples, foretelling the colony's resurrection or eternal curse. This hidden code, blending geometry, mythology, and star maps, was their last act of defiance against oblivion. But the invaders shattered the temples, scattering the message to the winds. For centuries, it lay dormant amid the ruins of the Acropolis, East Hill, and Malophoros Sanctuary. Now, you are the codebreaker summoned to decipher 'The Last Song of the Temples.' Starting at the heart of the ancient Acropolis, follow the architects' trail through Temples A-O, the towering columns of G, the sacred precincts of Malophoros, and the fortified walls. Each landmark holds a fragment: a metope carving, a column shadow, an altar inscription. Piece them together to expose the full prophecy—will it damn the destroyers or promise Selinunte's return? Race against the fading echoes before the song is lost forever. The truth awaits in the stones.

« War, besides its other evils, also deprives us of the sight of so many beauties. »— Thucydides, History of the Peloponnesian War (adapted)
Selinunte, founded in the 7th century BC by colonists from Megara Hyblaea, quickly became one of the most prosperous Greek cities in Sicily, famous for its colossal temples dedicated to Hera, Apollo, and Zeus. Its wealth came from fertile agriculture and a strategic port. However, its western position placed it on the border of Punic territories, making tensions with Carthage inevitable. The city was a major player in the complex geopolitics of ancient Sicily, oscillating between alliances and conflicts with its Greek neighbors and the rising power of Carthage.
In 409 BC, under the leadership of General Hannibal Mago, Carthage launched a major punitive expedition against Selinunte, in response to territorial provocations. Despite the arrival of reinforcements from Gela and Akragas, and attempts by Empedocles, the philosopher from Akragas, to drain the marshes to prevent disease, the city was besieged and captured in nine days. The destruction was almost total: inhabitants massacred or enslaved, and temples systematically demolished, their column drums toppled, symbols of Greek power annihilated by the Carthaginian hammer. These ruins remain a poignant testament to an era of grandeur and brutality.
