Parmenides, Master of the Immutable
Founded around 540-535 BCE by Phocaeans fleeing the Persian invasion, Elea (Velia) became a crucible of Greek thought in Magna Graecia. It was here that Parmenides, born around 515 BCE, developed his revolutionary doctrine that would shape the history of Western philosophy.
