Your quest begins at Utvrda Fortica, the remains of a Venetian fortress built in the 16th century. Its stone walls, 1.5 to 2 meters thick, partially restored in 2005, bear witness to its defensive function against the Ottomans. This strategic site, overlooking the Gacka River, was a key point for the Grenzer, the Austrian border soldiers who used it until the 18th century. It is here that you will unearth the first enigma, hidden in the ancient stones, a message from your infiltrated contact.

Continue your investigation to Crkva Svetog Nikole, St. Nicholas Church. Built in 1792 in Baroque style, it was reconstructed after an Ottoman fire in 1696, proof of Otočac's resilience. The interior houses 18th-century frescoes and a bell dated 1750, elements that could contain visual clues to decipher the plot. This Catholic parish church served as a place of worship for the local Serbian minority until 1941, a fact that reveals the cultural complexities of Lika.
