Where it all began: the first Santiago pilgrim was a king
In 812, King Alfonso II of Asturias received extraordinary news: the tomb of the Apostle James had been found at Compostela. He left Oviedo on foot to venerate the relics, thus tracing the Camino Primitivo — the very first Way of St James. This game retraces in Oviedo the stages of that first pilgrimage, from the cathedral's relics to medieval hospices and scallop shells carved in stone.

The Camino Primitivo: the path all others imitated
In 812, a hermit named Pelayo discovered in a Galician field a tomb he identified as that of the Apostle James. The news reached King Alfonso II in Oviedo. The king set out on foot, covering some 320 kilometres through the Cantabrian mountains to Compostela. It was the first Jacobean pilgrimage in history.
Oviedo quickly became a major pilgrimage stop. The Cámara Santa in the cathedral, with its sacred relics — including the Holy Shroud of Oviedo — attracted pilgrims from across Europe. The medieval saying claimed you could not go to Santiago without passing through Oviedo. Hospices, churches and fountains lined the route through the city.
The Camino Primitivo remained the main route until the 11th century, when the stabilisation of the Christian frontier allowed the flatter, safer Camino Francés to open. But the original path was never forgotten. Today a World Heritage site, it is experiencing a revival and Oviedo remains its historic starting point.

At each stop, open your phone camera: an augmented reality character appears on the façade and speaks your language. Hunt the clue — it materializes as golden letters on the real wall or floats in front of you. Eight stops total. At each stop you find a camera clue, solve the puzzle, collect a fragment of the final code. With all eight, you've got the answer.
Q03Is The First Path suitable for a challenge-seeking teen?
Absolutely. The puzzles aren't obvious — a curious teen will sweat just enough to be proud of cracking them. Progressive hints prevent frustration: if stuck, unlock hint level 1, then 2, then 3.
Q04Do we need 4G data to play?
Intermittent 4G is plenty. Maps are cached at startup. Narration and clues load per stop, so a so-so signal between stops is fine. GPS itself uses no data.
