Forbidden knowledge and hidden memory of the Jewish quarter
📱 1 to 10 phones · 1 team per phone · Independent codes
In the narrowest alleys of Girona lies one of Europe's best-preserved Jewish quarters. Kabbalists studied the mysteries of Creation here — until they were driven out.
The Call of Girona was one of the most important centres of Kabbalah in Western Europe. For four centuries, a thriving Jewish community lived, studied and created here — until the expulsion of 1492. Its labyrinthine alleys, stone stairways and secret passages have remained almost intact.
You're not just buying an escape game. You're carrying a living city guide — historical anecdotes, forgotten legends, key monuments, hidden architecture — unfolding step by step as you walk.
At each stop, places ordinary guides miss — secret façades, sculpted crests, alleys steeped in history.
Every riddle is rooted in a real historical fact or local legend. You leave with dozens of stories to tell.
Learn to read buildings — flamboyant Gothic, Baroque, Art Deco — like a real art historian, while having fun.
Walk through the city like a novel's character — every alley becomes a stage, every square a theatre.
A voice walks with you at every step, tells the story of each place, reads clues, adds a cinematic feel.

« "The Torah is a palace with seventy gates. In Girona, we found the key to each one." »— — Attributed to Moses ben Nahman (Nahmanides), 13th century
From the 9th century, a Jewish community settled in the Call of Girona, a maze of alleys built against the walls of the Força Vella. Protected by the Counts of Barcelona, the Jews of Girona became physicians, cartographers, translators and philosophers.
In the 13th century, Girona became a major centre of Kabbalah. Moses ben Nahman — Nahmanides — the greatest Kabbalist of his time, taught here before being forced to leave Spain after the Disputation of Barcelona in 1263. His school of thought would influence Jewish mysticism for centuries.
In 1391, anti-Jewish riots ravaged the Call. A century later, in 1492, the Alhambra Decree expelled all Jews from Spain. The quarter was walled up, its synagogues converted to churches. But the stone remembers — and the labyrinth remained intact, waiting to be rediscovered.
5 stages through the city
The gameplay: AR, camera, hidden clues
At each stop, open your phone camera: an augmented reality character appears on the façade and speaks your language. Hunt the clue — it materializes as golden letters on the real wall or floats in front of you. When you find it, the phone vibrates, an AR chest opens and reveals your answer fragment. 8 stops, 8 clues to find with the camera, 1 final code.
The stops on your route are a surprise. You'll discover them one by one, guided by your phone, starting from the meeting point.
