The day a princess became queen and changed the world
📱 1 to 10 phones · 1 team per phone · Independent codes
On 13 December 1474, in the Alcázar of Segovia, Isabella of Castile took the crown no one wanted to give her. Unified Spain had just been born.
Walt Disney drew inspiration from it for Cinderella's castle. But the real story of the Alcázar is more extraordinary than any fairy tale. It was here that Isabella I of Castile was proclaimed queen — a peaceful but audacious coup that unified Spain, financed Columbus and changed the face of the world.
« "I am the rightful queen of these kingdoms. And the king my husband is king by grace of our marriage." »— — Isabella I of Castile, 1474
When her brother Henry IV of Castile died in December 1474, Isabella was in Segovia. Without waiting for her husband Ferdinand of Aragon, she had herself proclaimed Queen of Castile in the Church of San Miguel, on the Plaza Mayor, then entered the Alcázar as sovereign.
This audacious move triggered a four-year war of succession against Juana la Beltraneja. Isabella emerged victorious. Her marriage to Ferdinand created the dynastic union of Castile and Aragon — the embryo of modern Spain.
From the Alcázar of Segovia, Isabella prepared the reconquest of Granada, signed the Capitulations of Santa Fe with Columbus, and established the Inquisition. For better and for worse, the world would never be the same again.

You arrive in Segovia · From the Alcázar to Plaza Mayor, open the link on your phone, the story starts. It's the modern outdoor escape game: audio narration, camera puzzles, final code unlocked as a team. No install. No need to book a time slot.
Easy stroll: between stops you walk 3 to 7 minutes. No tough climbs unless flagged on the product page. If you really want to push, you can jog between stops, but that's not the point.
No, solo works very well. The outdoor escape game format in self-guided mode leaves room for introspection: read the story at your pace, hunt clues like a detective. 2-6 players is more social, solo is more contemplative.
The game is playable in light rain — just keep your phone under a hood. For heavy thunderstorms, your code stays valid, you can postpone to another day at no cost.
