The Galata Tower, built by the Genoese in 1348, watched over merchant ships entering the Golden Horn.
Galata was an independent town within Constantinople, governed by a Genoese podestà and protected by its own walls. Genoese and Venetians waged a quiet trade war here. Eight merchant signs, carved in the stone of the alleys, encode a never-found ledger — that of the last cargo before the 1453 fall.

The city within the city
In 1261, Michael VIII Palaeologus ceded to the Genoese an autonomous quarter facing Constantinople. Galata fortified itself, built its tower in 1348, and prospered through the silk, spice and slave trade. The rival Venetians settled next door — and the two communities watched each other from their trading posts.
When Mehmed II took Constantinople in 1453, the Genoese of Galata negotiated and kept their privileges. The tower survived, the walls were partly razed, but the warehouses became the hans (caravanserais) of the Ottoman Grand Bazaar. Today, Galata's alleys still bear Genoese blazons on their facades.

The gameplay: AR, camera, hidden clues
At each stop, open your phone camera: an augmented reality character appears on the façade and speaks your language. Hunt the clue — it materializes as golden letters on the real wall or floats in front of you. When you find it, the phone vibrates, an AR chest opens and reveals your answer fragment. 8 stops, 8 clues to find with the camera, 1 final code.
The stops on your route are a surprise. You'll discover them one by one, guided by your phone, starting from the meeting point.
