Hürrem Sultan, a Ukrainian slave who became Suleiman's wife, turned the Harem into the centre of power.
The Sultanate of Women (1520–1683) saw the Harem women govern the Ottoman Empire from behind Topkapi's golden mashrabiya. Hürrem, then Nurbanu, Safiye and Kösem Sultan wove a network of alliances coded in the Iznik tiles. Eight of them still await reading.

The Sultanate of Women
Hürrem Sultan (Roxelana) was the first concubine to become the legitimate wife of an Ottoman sultan. She moved the Harem into Topkapi in 1534, breaking five centuries of tradition. Her influence over Suleiman the Magnificent was such that she had Grand Vizier Ibrahim Pasha executed and Crown Prince Mustafa sidelined.
After her, Nurbanu, Safiye, then Kösem Sultan (regent for 30 years) governed the Empire from the Harem. Kösem was finally strangled by supporters of her rival Turhan Sultan in 1651 — the last great intrigue of the seraglio. The Harem then had 400 rooms, baths, a hospital and its own mosque.

At each stop, open your phone camera: an augmented reality character appears on the façade and speaks your language. Hunt the clue — it materializes as golden letters on the real wall or floats in front of you. When you find it, the phone vibrates, an AR chest opens and reveals your answer fragment. 8 stops, 8 clues to find with the camera, 1 final code.
