The story that haunts this land
Your investigation begins on the Praça dos Três Poderes, a 13-hectare esplanade designed by Oscar Niemeyer in 1959. This symbolic center of power in Brazil was inaugurated in 1960, housing the three branches of government. Here you observe the emblematic buildings that mark the foundation of Brasília under the presidency of Juscelino Kubitschek, a bold vision for the capital of Brazil.
The Palácio do Planalto, seat of the Presidency of the Republic, is your next stop. Designed by Oscar Niemeyer, this 91-meter-high building with 4 floors and a surface area of 36,000 m² was inaugurated on April 7, 1973. It has been the official residence of the president since 1960 and the site of many national ceremonies.
