The Phantom Platform of King's Cross — 1875 to present

In 1851, King's Cross Station rose from the ashes of a former smallpox hospital—but not everyone knows what truly lies beneath its Victorian arches. Legend whispers of a concealed platform, accessible only to those who know the spell. The station's architects left behind a trail of cryptic symbols and hidden markers, woven into the very fabric of the building. A young traveler has vanished after claiming to have found the entrance. Your mission: retrace their steps through the station's shadowed corridors, decode the architectural clues left by the original builders, and expose the truth about Platform 9¾. Was it merely a refuge for the persecuted, or does a deeper conspiracy lurk in the tunnels below? The answers lie hidden in eight key locations around King's Cross—each one a piece of the puzzle. Time is running out. The platform's guardians do not take kindly to those who ask too many questions.

« The railway station is a place of magic. Where else can you step through a door and emerge in a different world? »
Sir John Betjeman, Victorian railway historian

The Legend of the Lost Platform

King's Cross Station, opened in 1852, was built on the former site of Boudica's battle against the Romans in 61 AD. Victorian workers discovered mysterious Celtic artifacts during construction, including stones engraved with runes that authorities made disappear. These discoveries quickly fueled an urban legend: the station was built on an ancient druidic portal.

Over the decades, employees and travelers reported unexplained phenomena: phantom trains crossing tracks at night, platforms that seemed to change numbering depending on the observer, echoes of unknown languages resonating in tunnels. In 1875, railway engineer Thomas Criddell officially documented the existence of an 'architecturally impossible platform' between tracks 9 and 10, visible only under certain atmospheric conditions.
