Your quest for the Copper Man begins at the Oetz Tourist Office, inaugurated in 1950 as the central information point for the Ötztal Valley. Situated at an altitude of 830m, this site is the ideal starting point for summer hikes and manages information about Ötzi, the Iceman. Here, you collect the first clues about the ancient Tyrolean copper routes that crossed the region long before the Roman era. Oetz, in the heart of Austrian Tyrol, is a gateway to a past where the minerals of the Alps shaped the lives of communities.
200 meters from the Tourist Office, the Parish Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Oetz, built between 1766 and 1770 in a late Baroque style, stands with its 50-meter tower. Its interior is adorned with frescoes by Martin Knoller, dating from 1768, depicting the life of Saint Peter. These walls, witnesses to centuries of devotion, have seen generations of miners and merchants pass by.
