The story that haunts this land
Your quest begins at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre in Liscannor, an ecological structure built in 2007 and embedded in the hillside to minimize its visual impact. Here, you'll discover the Ledge 4D Experience, a 3-minute interactive attraction simulating a flight above and below the cliffs, immersing you in the site's geology. The Cliffs View Café is also located on the upper level, offering a unique perspective on the landscape. This center is the gateway to the Cliffs of Moher Coastal Walk, an essential route for understanding Munster's natural heritage.
Continue your journey approximately 1 km north along the paved path to reach O’Brien’s Tower. This 6-meter-high cylindrical tower was erected in 1835 by Cornelius O’Brien, a politician and landowner, to provide panoramic views of the cliffs. On clear days, it offers vistas of the Atlantic, Galway Bay, and the Aran Islands. An 800-meter section north of the tower is undergoing renovation in 2025 to secure the path, highlighting the site's commitment to visitor safety while exploring this Natural Heritage Site.
Beyond the tower, the northern coastal path leads you to the Puffin Viewing Area, an observation spot where puffins seasonally nest in the cliffs. This section is included in the recently renovated 800 meters north of O’Brien’s Tower. The Cliffs of Moher, peaking at 214 meters at Hag’s Head, stretch for 14 km along the west coast of County Clare.
