Concarneau — the fisherman-corsairs of the Ville Close
Concarneau has been one of France's leading fishing ports since the Middle Ages. But this official activity concealed a thriving parallel economy: privateering. Concarneau's fishermen, excellent sailors, knew the currents and channels better than anyone. With a letter of marque from the king, they became legal corsairs.
