Your Jacobite quest begins at the Glenfinnan Visitor Centre, a strategic starting point opened in 1997 to document the history of the 1745 uprising. Here, Jacobite artifacts and exhibitions on 18th-century Highlander culture immerse you in the context. The Glenfinnan Valley, or Gleann Fhionnain, 'valley of white water' in Gaelic, is the historic home of the MacDonald of Glenaladale, a major Jacobite clan. It was in this typical Scottish Highlands mountain landscape that the clans gathered nearly three centuries ago. You will discover the first clues that will lead you on the trail of Prince Charles.
