Your quest for the imperial seal begins in front of the Dazheng Gate, the main entrance to the Shenyang Imperial Palace, built in 1625 by Nurhaci. This eastern gate, 12 meters high with its imperial yellow tiles, was restored in 1976 after damage during the Sino-Japanese War. The Shenyang Imperial Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2004, spans 60,000 m² with over 100 buildings. It is here, in this residence of the early Qing emperors, that Emperor Puyi spent his early years, residing from 1908 to 1912 before his abdication. You will search for the first clues hidden in the Manchu and Chinese inscriptions adorning the gate.
