Your quest begins at the Pomnik Powstańców Śląskich, a 33-meter-high monument inaugurated in 1967. This 14-meter central sculpture, the work of Antoni Kępiński and Teodor Musioł, honors the 70,000 fighters of the Silesian Uprisings (1919-1921) who fought for Silesia's reunification with Poland. Restored between 2010 and 2012, this site on Plac Powstańców Śląskich is the starting point of your immersion into Katowice's history.
