Walled alive, she still haunts the castle
📱 1 to 10 phones · 1 team per phone · Independent codes
In the 16th century, Thérèse de Saint-Clar was walled alive in the North Tower of Puymartin Castle by her jealous husband. Since then, her white silhouette appears on full moon nights. No one has ever found the room where she was imprisoned.
Puymartin Castle stands in the woods of the Périgord Noir, a few kilometers from Sarlat. Behind its medieval towers and stone-slab roofs hides one of Périgord's most tragic stories. Thérèse de Saint-Clar, caught with her lover, was condemned by her husband to end her days walled up in a room of the North Tower. Fifteen years of captivity. Then silence. Her ghost — the White Lady — still wanders the corridors.

« "You don't punish love — you wall it up. And it always comes back." »— — Legend of the Périgord Noir
Puymartin Castle was built in the 13th century, destroyed during the Hundred Years' War, then rebuilt in the 15th century by the Saint-Clar family. During the Wars of Religion, it found itself on the front line between Catholics and Protestants — Catholic Sarlat on one side, and Huguenot lords on the other.
It is in this context of violence that Thérèse's drama unfolds. Wife of the lord of Puymartin, she is caught with her lover. Her husband, in a fit of fury, has the door to her room in the North Tower walled shut. Thérèse would remain imprisoned for fifteen years, fed through a hatch, until her death. Legend says her skeleton was found centuries later, behind the wall.
Since then, the castle's inhabitants and visitors report sightings of a white figure in the North Tower, particularly on full moon nights. The White Lady of Puymartin has become one of France's most famous ghosts. The castle, still inhabited by the same family, is open to visitors — but the North Tower remains closed after nightfall.

The gameplay: AR, camera, hidden clues
At each stop, open your phone camera: an augmented reality character appears on the façade and speaks your language. The stops on your route are a surprise. You'll discover them one by one, guided by your phone, starting from the meeting point.
