700,000 men, 300 days, a hell
📱 1 to 10 phones · 1 team per phone · Independent codes
Verdun, 1916. In 300 days of battle, 700,000 men fell on a few square kilometers of Meuse soil. The forts, trenches, and ossuary still bear the scars of what remains the deadliest battle in French history.
Verdun is not just a battlefield. It is an open-air cemetery, a place where every meter of earth still contains shell fragments, bone fragments, and personal objects. The Battle of Verdun lasted from February 21 to December 18, 1916 — 300 days of hell that consumed an entire generation of young French and German men. Your route begins at the Monument of Victory, descends into the underground Citadel, and leads toward the memorial sites of the battlefield.
You're not just buying an escape game. You're carrying a living guide — historical anecdotes, forgotten legends, key monuments, hidden architecture — unfolding as you go.
At each stop, places ordinary guides miss — secret façades, sculpted crests, alleys steeped in history.
Every riddle is rooted in a real historical fact or local legend. You leave with dozens of stories to tell.
Learn to read buildings — flamboyant Gothic, Baroque, Art Deco — like a real art historian, while having fun.
Walk through the city like a novel's character — every alley becomes a stage, every square a theatre.
A voice walks with you at every step, tells the story of each place, reads clues, adds a cinematic feel.

« "They shall not pass." »— — Motto attributed to General Pétain, Verdun, 1916
On February 21, 1916, the German army launched the largest offensive ever seen on the Western Front. General von Falkenhayn's objective was to "bleed white" the French army by drawing it into a battle of attrition around Verdun, a symbol-city of French resistance. In a few hours, a million shells rained down on French lines.
French resistance was organized around the "Sacred Way" — the road linking Bar-le-Duc to Verdun through which 90% of reinforcements and supplies passed. The "noria" system rotated divisions: each unit spent a few days on the front line before being relieved. Thus, 70% of the French army would pass through Verdun.
The Douaumont Ossuary, inaugurated in 1932, contains the remains of 130,000 unidentified French and German soldiers. Before the Ossuary, 16,000 aligned white crosses recall the scale of the sacrifice. The Trench of Bayonets, where an entire regiment was buried standing by a bombardment, remains one of the most poignant sites of the Great War.

The gameplay: AR, camera, hidden clues
At each stop, open your phone camera: an augmented reality character appears on the façade and speaks your language. Hunt the clue — it materializes as golden letters on the real wall or floats in front of you. When you find it, the phone vibrates, an AR chest opens and reveals your answer fragment. 8 stops, 8 clues to find with the camera, 1 final code.
The stops on your route are a surprise. You'll discover them one by one, guided by your phone, starting from the meeting point.
