Your journey begins at Thatbyinnyu Temple, built around 1144 under the reign of King Alaungsithu. This 61-meter structure, one of the tallest in Bagan, was dedicated to Buddha and its name means 'Omniscience' in Burmese. Here, you grasp the architectural ambition of the Pagan dynasty that dominated the Mandalay Region. UNESCO restorations after the 2016 earthquake have preserved this masterpiece of Burmese Buddhist Architecture, a major Historical Monument.
Continue to Ananda Temple, founded in 1105 by King Kyanzittha. This temple is an example of the refinement of the Ancient Pagan Empire, with its perfect cross plan and four directional sanctuaries.
