Your quest begins in front of the Llanberis Lake Railway station in Llanberis, where vintage steam locomotives remind you of north Wales' industrial past. Opened in 1971, this 3.2 km narrow-gauge railway connects Llanberis to Penllyn, following the route of a line built in 1866 to transport slate from the Dinorwig Quarry to Caernarfon port.
