Spiš Castle — Oath of the Guardians

Spišské Podhradie welcomes you at the foot of this monumental fortress, former royal town founded in 1241 after the Mongol invasion by King Béla IV. Its commercial privileges brought wealth for centuries, protected by a 14th-century urban wall one kilometer long. The central square preserves its 17th-century belfry that served as municipal prison until 1920, witness to medieval justice.
