Gettysburg — Unmask the Spy

🎭Your Mission

You are Captain Thomas Mitchell, a Union secret service agent on an infiltration mission in occupied Gettysburg, July 1863.

You arrive at McPherson's Ridge, site of the initial attack on July

Infiltrate the Confederate lines at Gettysburg where a Union spy vanished with Robert E. Lee's battle plans on July 2, 1863.

« Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. »
Abraham Lincoln, Gettysburg Address, November 19, 1863

The story that haunts this land

Gettysburg awakens in the mist of July 1st, 1863, when Henry Heth's Confederate troops encounter the Union division on McPherson's Ridge. This 1.5 km plateau dominates the western battlefield, silent witness to General Reynolds' death at 10:30 AM. The McPherson Barn, built in 1847, still bears bullet traces from this first skirmish. Your investigation begins here: did Parker use this farm as a meeting point? The thick walls tell another story than that of textbooks, that of civilians caught in the crossfire and secret messages exchanged under enemy fire.

The Eternal Light Peace Memorial, dedicated by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1938, raises its eternal flame on Oak Hill. This 22-meter diameter circular structure bears the names of 1,540 regiments that clashed here. But in 1863, this hill served as a Confederate observation post. Did Parker know the tunnels dug beneath the position? Your phone reveals the underground networks used by spies: forgotten galleries still connect strategic positions, remnants of a war within the war waged by rival secret services.

The Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center, opened in 2008, preserves Robert E. Lee's uniform and 10 authentic battle cannons. But it's the 110-meter circumference cyclorama, painted in 1884 by the Kosztka Panoramic Company, that hides the real clue. Parker concealed a message in the details of this fresco restored in 2008. The 1,500 exhibited artifacts testify to a battle where information was worth as much as gunpowder: annotated staff maps, military codes, intercepted letters reveal the extent of wartime intelligence.

Little Round Top rises 91 meters high, defensive key during July 2, 1863. Joshua Chamberlain and his 20th Maine repelled 14 Confederate assaults in legendary bayonet combat. The observatory built in 1884 offers panoramic views over the 8 km² battlefield, but also over escape routes used by spies. Chamberlain's monument, dedicated in 1913, bears an inscription about his heroic charge. Yet military reports mention a mysterious civilian spotted on the hill during combat: was Parker trying to flee toward Union lines?

Your mission ends at the High Water Mark of the Rebellion, climax of Pickett's Charge on July 3, 1863. Here, 12,500 Confederates charged against 5,000 entrenched Unionists, stopping 300 meters from enemy lines. The 1887 'Arms at Rest' monument and its 25 cannons positioned according to real positions mark the exact spot. But you've discovered the truth: Parker wasn't a traitor, he was a patriot who paid with his life for transmitting Lee's plans. His sacrifice, erased from official archives, may have changed the outcome of this decisive battle that sealed the fate of the American Union.
