The megalithic monuments of Menorca's Talaiotic civilisation
📱 1 to 10 phones · 1 team per phone · Independent codes
Three thousand years ago, the Talaiotic people erected taulas and navetas on Menorca that no one has been able to reproduce since. Their stones hold without mortar. Their secrets hold without writing.
With over 1,500 archaeological sites across just 700 km², Menorca has the highest density of prehistoric remains in the Mediterranean. The Talaiotic culture, which flourished between 1400 and 123 BC, left three types of monuments unique in the world: talayots (truncated cone towers), taulas (T-shaped stone tables reaching 4 metres) and navetas (collective tombs shaped like an inverted ship). The Torre d'en Galmés site, with its three talayots and hypostyle hall, is the largest Talaiotic village in the Balearics.
« "Menorca's taula is a deeper mystery than Brittany's menhirs. For here, not a single text tells us what it was for." »— — Facing the taula of Talatí de Dalt, beneath Menorcan skies
The Talaiotic culture emerged around 1400 BC in the Balearic Islands, but it was on Menorca that it reached its most monumental expression. The talayots — dry-stone towers of circular or square plan — probably served as watchtowers and meeting places. Over 300 are counted on the island.
The taulas are the most enigmatic monument. These T-shaped structures, composed of a vertical pillar topped with a horizontal slab, are found exclusively on Menorca. Thirty-two are known, always oriented southward. Their function — astronomical sanctuary, sacrificial altar, community totem — is still debated among archaeologists.
The navetas, collective tombs shaped like an inverted ship, are the oldest roofed buildings in Europe. The Naveta des Tudons, dated to 1200 BC, contained the remains of over one hundred individuals. Menorca has been placed on the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list for this unique megalithic ensemble.

Both at once: it's an outdoor escape game — team puzzles, narration, clues, final code — but in the streets of Menorca · Mahón & Talaiotic sites, at your pace. The classic scavenger hunt mechanic plus augmented reality through the camera.
Plan 1 h 30 to 2 h 30 depending on your pace. Some finish in 1 h 10, others take 3 h in slow-mode. No pressure: the clock only counts for the leaderboard, you play at your tempo.
No, solo works very well. The outdoor escape game format in self-guided mode leaves room for introspection: read the story at your pace, hunt clues like a detective. 2-6 players is more social, solo is more contemplative.
Spring and autumn are the best seasons: mild temperatures, fewer tourists, gorgeous light. Summer is also great but go for early morning before 11 or late afternoon. Winter is perfectly playable, especially in southern cities — Menorca · Mahón & Talaiotic sites often feels more authentic then.
